This raw material is produced through the thermal conversion of plastic waste, and is converted into ethylene and propylene at the Lyondell Basel production facility, and then processed into PP and PE in the downstream plastic production unit. Richard Roudeix, senior vice president of olefins and polyolefins for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, said: "Advancing the circular economy requires clear action. At the same time, we are expanding the range of sustainable solutions through the Circulen brand and the use of recyclable ingredients to provide customers with a way to use recyclable polymers in various applications."


Products made from recyclable and renewable raw materials will be sold by LyondellBasell under the Circulen brand, with the aim of improving the sustainability of brand owners’ consumer products. They can produce high-quality plastics for demanding applications such as food packaging and health products. The Lyondell Basel plant that produces these products has passed the ISCC PLUS standard certification.


LyondellBasell promises that by 2030, the carbon dioxide emissions of its global operations will be reduced by 15% from 2015 levels, and that it will produce and sell 2 million tons of recycled or renewable polymers per year by 2030.
