To learn more about the Potatoes and packaging patatoes

Potato (scientific name: Solanum tuberosum L.), belongs to the Solanaceae family, is an annual herb with edible tubers. It is the fourth most important food crop in the world, second only to wheat, rice and corn.

Potatoes are also known as potato, potato, potato, fragrant potato, potato, mountain potato, sun yam, ground egg, potato, etc. (Shanxi Datong area is also called yam). In some southern provinces, it is also called "winter potato" because it is often planted in winter after harvesting autumn rice.

Potatoes have different names in different countries. For example, the United States is called Irish jicama, Russia is called Dutch potato, France is called ground apple, Germany is called ground pear, Italy is called ground bean, and Peru is called Baba. Together with wheat, rice, corn, and sorghum, they are called the world's five major crops. Potato tubers contain a lot of starch, which can provide the human body with abundant calories, and are rich in protein, amino acids, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. In particular, its vitamin content is the most complete of all food crops. In European and American countries, especially North America, Potatoes have long become the second staple food.

Potatoes are native to the Andes Mountains of South America. The history of artificial cultivation can be traced back to southern Peru from about 8000 to 5000 BC. The main potato producers are China, Russia, India, Ukraine, and the United States. China is the country with the largest total potato production in the world.

Potato starch is more competitive than corn starch in the world market. High-yielding potato countries use about 40% of the total output for starch processing, and 25% of the world's starch production comes from potatoes. Compared with the starches of other crops, potato starch has high gelatinization degree, low gelatinization temperature, good transparency, strong cohesive force and large stretchability. Modified potato starch has applications in many fields, such as the processing of derivatives, the production of fructose syrup, the production of citric acid, and the production of biodegradable plastics. For packing the porato starch, it normally use 3 layer kraft paper bags with breath holes or laminated bulk jumbo bags for starch packaging.

Harvest when reaching physiological maturity, early-maturing varieties are harvested in mid-to-late August, and mid-late-maturing varieties are harvested in early and mid-September. About a week before harvest, the potato fields are mechanically cut or chemically destroyed, and the stems and leaves are cleared out of the plot. The digging depth should be reasonable when lifting and rewinding to prevent loss of potatoes and damage to potatoes. Handle with care during shipment, and prevent sun, rain and freezing damage during transportation and storage.

Potatoes normally packed in ventilated woven bags or FIBC bulk bags. And these bags are made from ventilated farbic or Net fabric to make sure the bag can breathe.
